From the corner of Tsimiski and Aristotelous in Thessaloniki — arguably the most famous corner in Greek confectionery — Terkenlis has been building their tsoureki recipe for over 75 years. Stavros Terkenlis, a refugee from Asia Minor, opened his patisserie there in 1948, and the shop has not moved since.

This chestnut version takes their signature enriched brioche — aromatic, finely textured, made with real butter, eggs, and the signature blend of spices that gives tsoureki its unmistakable depth — fills it generously with a sweet chestnut cream paste, and finishes it under a white chocolate coating. The result is opulent without being heavy: the brioche stays pillowy and slightly sweet, the chestnut filling brings an earthy, nutty richness, and the white chocolate shell adds just enough contrast.

Serve it at room temperature with Greek coffee, or warm it briefly in the microwave for 20–30 seconds to bring it fully back to life. A gift-worthy loaf that travels well and keeps the story of Thessaloniki's finest bakery in every slice.
