Papagalos Loumidis is the coffee Greece has been brewing in a briki since 1920 — roasted, ground, and packaged in Maroussi, Athens by Nestlé Hellas under the brand's original parrot trademark.
Finely milled to a near-powder consistency, it's built specifically for traditional Greek (ellinikos) coffee: spooned into cold water with sugar to taste, brought slowly to a boil, and poured unfiltered so the foam (kaimaki) rises to the top of the cup.
The blend is rich and full-roasted without the bitterness of an over-dark grind, and it's the reference point most Greek households measure other brands against.
